Portals – the benefits of having your own MSO or SPP

A portal is a specialist pathway to the MSO or the SPP, where the materials and site ‘look’ have been tailored for a particular client or group. A portal provides access to the MSO or SPP directly from the portal client’s website.

A portal provides:

Seamless integration into the portal client’s website: The portal is integrated into the existing client’s website, with access being password protected.

A
specialised service: The benefit of this approach is that from a user or membership perspective, the portal appears and works as a specialised Management Support or Standards Support service provided by the client to their user group, and so directly adds to and complements the industry development, support and resourcing work of the client.

Baseline resourcing function for NGOs: Through a portal arrangement BNG NGO Services Online provide a baseline resourcing function to support the other development and capacity building initiatives of the portal client by:

  • branding or tailoring the look of the site to include the portal client’s logo and other relevant graphics
  • the provision of all the current and future content of the MSO or SPP
  • uploading of material provided by portal client and/or transforming specific materials into more accessible form via interactive software. This may be particularly useful in developing short interactive information or training modules, for example to explain complex policy initiatives or program development and to facilitate a consistent approach by organisations and groups
  • incorporating the needs of the portal client into the research and development program of BNG NGO Services Online
    • This means that portal client can provide its user group or member organisations with a comprehensive and targeted support service where the MSOor SPP site and the content are tailored to the specific needs of the client’s user organisations and groups. The portal is also able to carry and maintain other specific or specialised support, resource and training materials developed specifically for the portal client, facilitating the client’s (or agent’s) capacity to work with particular organisations or groups, drawing on MSO or SPP materials and resources.

      A
n up to date well managed service: The BNG NGO Services Online team takes responsibility for ensuring that both the materials and the specific tailored materials are kept current and consistent within the portal as well as ensuring that the portal platform is stable and fully functional.

An MSO or SPP portal is surprisingly affordable – for more information about portal arrangements contact BNG NGO Services Online: info@ngoservicesonline.com.au
